Helping a Grieving Friend

Have you ever wondered how you could help friends when they are grieving?

  1. Visit…but don’t stay too long or worry about making conversation. When grief is the freshest, the words should be the fewest.
  2. Take the initiative-recognize needs such as: provide food, provide housing for incoming relatives, do laundry, mow the yard.
  3. Send a letter of condolence describing happy memories that you remember about the one who has died and give hope from God’s Word.
  4. Minister to friends after death (1 month, 2 month, or 1 year anniversary).
