Poem: A Balm in Gilead

Written by Judy Lewis

Is there no balm in Gilead?

                                            Is there no physician there?

O yes, my friend, there is a healing balm

For those who have worry, pain, and care.

You ask, “Is there no balm in Gilead?”

Oh yes, There is a healing balm.

“I feel so hurt and alone,” You say…

“Can I receive comfort in this gloom, today?”

Don’t be afraid, He’ll see you through

There are so many things He can do.

                                           Come to this physician above

And He will fill you with His love.

He will lift your burdens; for He is strong

He will give you new strength,

And His strength will become your song.

Is there no balm in Gilead?

Oh yes, there is a healing balm.

                                      Fierce as the storms of life may be;

He’ll always be there to comfort thee.
